Interview with the left Handed author- Nikhil Shrivastava

Tell us a little about yourself? Perhaps something not many people know?

A little! Well, this happy looking guy has a different life story. I am the guy who has faced death closely twice but still survived. I have been friends with all kinds of people and learned the importance of everything in the process. I have been heartbroken, broke, failed but never really stopped in one place. I think life is a journey and I choose to explore it to the best of my potential.

Did you always dream about becoming an author or did you start writing at a particular stage in life?

Ever since I was a kid, ideas of living a creative life attracted me to the core. I never really realized when I first started writing. It was in school when I first understood my love for sharing my heart out with a journal and later to people. That’s how it all started.

How did you come up with the idea for your book?

Like most young people, I was always confused while growing up. I had a lot of different questions about success, relationships, money making, time management, but no answers to them. I tried searching everywhere, but nothing brought me clarity.  I grew up with the support of many wise people and got the answers to my questions from different places. Sometimes people come forward to solve my problems, and sometimes my experiences taught me. And then I thought of millions of young people who are just like me: confused and passionate. I wondered who will answer their questions. This was the story; this was my idea.

Could you tell us a bit about your book and why it is a must-read?

Because You Need This is a self-help guide for everyone who is looking for answers. It’s a book that knows the art of handling pressure, finding peace and managing your heart. It’s a book that helps you see the science behind money and lessons about appreciating failures. In a world where everyone is loaded with stress, anxiety, and pressure for outgrowing the competitor and making tons of money that they are never going to enjoy, BYNT is a gift that frees us. It’s your guide for a meaningful today, happier tomorrow and a brighter future.

Your first book was extremely inspiring. What other genres would you like to try?

Thank you! I would love to write an inspiring novel based on love and everyday life. I would like to explore fiction and anthology.

What, according to you, is the hardest thing about writing?

Truth. There’s a little voice in a writer that asks him to reveal the truth, little by little. That I feel is the hardest part- always. The second hardest part of writing is to write what you literally mean. Simple reading is often the most challenging writing.

Do you have a day job other than being a writer? And do you like it?

I am a brand developer, and a part of my task is to focus on how brands are emerging in the world and making and designing strategies for promotion. I enjoy working on it as it helps my knowledge base to expand and keep me updated.

How active are you on social media? And how do you think it affects the way you write?

I think social media is a great platform to showcase what you have to those who need it. I am moderately active on social media. I spend days without uploading a story on Instagram being content in my life, and then, there are days when the only thing I want is to explore and post 10 stories a day. Although, it does not affect the way I write.

If you had to pick one other author to write your biography, who would it be?

I would be glad if that be you, Priyanka!

(He’s just too kind )

What advice would you like to give writers who are struggling with their first novels?

I want to do it with a few points.

  1. Find out what you really want to write. Figure out why you want to do it. (Remember “Why” matters more than “what”) If you are genuinely convinced, go about it. It’s 70% about your will and determination and 30% about your effort.
  2. Meanwhile, keep reading and keep exploring. Watch movies, meet new people, find an original story from every day of your life.

         Best of luck!
